Tatay Kong Sexy (2016)

"Tatay Kong Sexy" is a 2016 Filipino drama comedy movie starring Jinggoy Estrada and Maja Salvador. This is Jinggoy's comeback movie as of late.

Synopsis: In "Tatay Kong Sexy", Jinggoy Estrada plays Kit, a family patriarch who is raising his three children on his own, as his wife passed away five years prior.

Empress Schuck is the eldest and unica hija Mariel; followed by (Jinggoy’s real-life son) Jolo Estrada as Franky; and Maliksi Morales as Kennedy.

Maja Salvador (as Monette) crashes into their lives when she complains about steep fees at the machine shop that Jinggoy owns, where she has brought her car to be repaired. She and Kit strike up a unique friendship that people in his life begin to question.

Bayani Agbayani as Kit’s brother and Rolando Inocencio as the shop manager, provide support. Both actors deliver tempered performances that showcase their comedic talent.

Ang Tatay Kong Sexy has a simple story of a middle-class widower trying to be both mother and father to his children. He has to deal with the oldest coming of age, and his overprotectiveness; a middle child who barely makes it through school and is starting to explore his sexuality; and a young son. The characters feel like they could be people from real life, nothing so special, but also unique. But is it a story that should have been made into a movie? It could very well just be an episode of a television show or a movie made for television.

Chasing Fire (2013)

"Chasing Fire" is a 2013 Filipino independent film starring Anthea Murfet and Richard Herrera. This pinoy movie is a slightly unusual and off-beat indie drama that has been carefully shot, edited and scored and doesn’t go where you expect it to.

Synopsis: A forbidden love story. An ill-fated couple must face and find the resolution to their own destinies. Chasing Fire surpasses the commonplace of two people defining love. Living behind the shadow of her mother, Kristin falls in love with Shane, an aspiring musician, whom she soon discovers to have something innately in common with her. Chasing Fire does not only exemplify finding love and happiness, it also accentuates discovering oneself and delving into life as it is- a reality that most people don't normally live in.

Just the 3 of Us (2016)

"Just the 3 of Us" is a 2016 Filipino romantic comedy starring John Lloyd Cruz and Jennylyn Mercado. This rom-com is the first team-up of both of the lead actors. Quite frankly, I'm amazed at why Ms. Mercado is given this huge amounts of break. For me, she's just short of brilliant. For the past couple of months, we have seen her in movies with almost all box-office leading men. She has been with Derek Ramsay, Jericho Rosales and Sam Milby. The only leading man I know of that's not on her list "yet" is Mr. Piolo Pascual. What do you think?

Synopsis
"Just the 3 of Us" presents a glimpse of a most unlikely situation of the most unlikely tandem to hit the big screen. "Just The Three Of Us" is centered on an unlikely love story between polar opposites Uno (Cruz) and CJ (Mercado) – two strangers, and how one night changes their lives forever. Unforeseen circumstances collide and force Uno and CJ to live under the same roof as they both deal with their sense of responsibility and their yearning for security. Uno is motivated by his sense of family while CJ is governed by an unconditional love that should put her first above everything else. The unlikely thing that binds Uno and CJ together paves the way for them to find in each other the kind of love they never thought they needed.

Resureksyon (2015)

"Resureksyon" is a 2015 Filipino horror drama film starring Paulo Avelino, Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Isabelle Daza. This scary movie is one of Jasmine's not-so-good acting roles in Philippine movies.

Synopsis: Paulo Javier is placed in a fictional milieu a year backward from present time. Nothing has changed as many Filipinos, especially those “trapped” in the single-parenting norm, have trodden the diaspora path to find greener pastures for their families.

The arrival of the more than 800 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in coffins will shake everyone’s rustic life and their parochial mindset. Part of the statistics is Mara, played by Isabelle Daza, who worked in a Serbian household in Myanmar. Wanting to get away from the vicious cycle of poverty, she left her maternal duties over son Migs (Raikko Matteo) to sister Aila (Jasmine Curtis-Smith). Mara’s “resurrection” from death will keep Paulo Javier on his toes, particularly when “all hell breaks loose,” as new director Alfonso “Borgy” Torre III describes the plot’s turning point, in which no one can turn back time and turn back on the present. The characters have no choice but to face their reality and an army of vampires head on.

Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin (2016)

"Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin" is a 2016 Filipino comedy anthology movie based on Bob Ong's 2011 book of the same name. This laugh-out-loud movie is a rib-tickling parody and satire of the commercial filmmaking in the Philippines with an anthology of three different stories. It stars Cristine Reyes, Maricel Soriano, Herbert Bautista, Antoinette Taus, Paolo Ballesteros, Jason Gainza, Candy Pangilinan, Benjie Paras and Shy Carlos.

Synopsis
Episode 1: Bala Sa Bala, Kamao Sa Kamao, Satsat Sa Satsat
The first film in the trilogy centers around Diego, an action star who wants to take revenge against a group of bad guys, also known as "Bandidos" (bandits), after they killed his parents, his wife, Ashley, and everyone who attended their wedding, just a few moments right after they get married at the beginning of the film. As the story unfolds, Diego, being an action star, gets into misadventures and finds himself in trouble-after-trouble. Unfortunately, Divina Tuazon, a famous actress and Diego's new found leading lady, was kidnapped by the Bandidos. Finally, in an abandoned warehouse (a setting where most of Pinoy action films' final scenes takes place), Diego tries to save Divina from the evil hands of Bandido's merciless and heartless leader named "Bos".

The plot generally follows themes from classic Filipino action movies, as well as comedy films from early 80's to 90's. For example, Diego's sidekicks, Dodoy and Momoy uses slapstick from time to time, a type of comedy which was very popular in the country for the past decades.

Episode 2: Shake, Shaker, Shakest
A middle-cass family was forced to enter and stay in a white haunted house for several days after being stranded in an unfamiliar place. The title is play on the Shake, Rattle & Roll film series and the plot is a ludicrous horror film.

Episode 3: Asawa ni Marie
A rags-to-riches story about Marie, a poor girl who has a confusing status in life and love. The plot is similar to Philippine dramas/ soap operas, particularly Marimar.
